Llanbrynmair to Llangadfan. 16.5 km. 440m of climbing.
Back in the saddle today. With a shorter distance to cover, cooler temps and mostly overcast skies it seemed like a good day to see if the heat rash would stay under control. The good news is that my feet and ankles were pretty good. The less than good news is that higher up my calves the bright red has returned. I iced as soon as I got in and then applied the ointment I picked up in Machynlleth. We’ll see if any miracles happen overnight.
It was good to be walking with the team again. Everyday is a bit different but largely the same. Rolling green hills, sheep and a few cattle, fences, some old stone fences, gates & stiles to negotiate, the occasional forest (some clear cut), wind farms and a few (crop) farms. Today there was a bit more forest, a bit more boggy terrain, a few less sheep and the hills didn’t seem quite as high nor the valleys so deep.
We didn’t really have any “add-ons” today. A bit of confusion coming out of one field, but a quick GPS consultation got us back on track. We had a couple of longish snack/lunch breaks, and while it was tempting to add a nap onto those we resisted and got to the B&B shortly after 4.
We’re staying at the Cann Office Hotel tonight. It appears to be a thriving pub, hotel and restaurant. A good dinner was had and early to bed for all.
